Two Situations, One Response

Recently I was reunited with a guy I went to high school with who was not exactly someone I ever hung out with or even talked to much. I got a chance to talk to him the other night. He broke into tears thinking about how far from the Lord he was. In utter humility he listened to God; all I had to do was point out a few verses for him to read. The following morning he gave his life to Christ and asked me and another guy to baptize him.

There is another situation going on in my life where dear friends of mine are beginning to show through their actions that they don’t really like or respect me at all, and I believe they are talking about me behind my back.

As I was thinking about both of these situations last night I prayed something like this: “God, whether people are coming to know you in humility, or lifting themselves up against me in pride, I’ll rejoice. If people love me or hate me, I’ll rejoice—because you’ve promised to use it all to draw me near to you.”

How good it is that I wake up with a purpose. Even if man is against me, the God who saves is for me. My life is so fulfilling and definitely not boring anymore.
