1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.

I have been praying a lot that God would get rid of my lazy and complacent attitude, where all my determination and passion lies in being comfortable and doing as little as possible to seek the Lord, allowing me to breeze through the Christian life.

As I was sitting down to read today I prayed, “Just teach me how to stay awake—to seek you all the time, to love you all the time, to pray all the time. Because on my own I’ll just say, ‘Surely God was here and I missed it!’ I don’t want to be someone who takes advantage of grace and cheapens it to excuse myself from obedience."

Whether I love God or not, or obey him or not, or at all attempt to thank him with my life for his death, he died to get me.
