An Internet sensation will perform before a packed People’s Court in Des Moines on Thursday night.

Adam Young of the one-man band Owl City started recording Christian electronica songs in his parents’ moldy basement in Minnesota a couple years ago. Today, he’s performing before sold-out venue after sold-out venue as he tours across the country, and he has attracted the attention of Universal Records.

“I wake up every morning, hit my knees, and wholeheartedly thank God for allowing me to do what I do,” Young wrote on his blog. “I am endlessly grateful to him for the time that has been given to me, for allowing me to be a part of people's lives in some small way, for blessing me in ways that are utterly indescribable. I am left speechless. Breathless. Overwhelmed.”

iTunes describes Owl City’s latest album, Ocean Eyes, this way: “Filled with bubbling electronics and light, G-rated anthems, Ocean Eyes sets its sights on the MySpace generation. This is computerized pop music, replete with programmed drum loops, digital symphonies, and all the amenities of modern recording software.”

Des Moines residents will have an opportunity to hear it for themselves Thursday night a People’s. According to Owl City’s MySpace page, the concert is already sold out. Although Young’s popularity only continues to increase, it’s clear that is life is about more than fame and fortune.

“I cling dearly to the hope and joy that is found in Jesus Christ,” Young told Relevant magazine. “My faith is a big part of who I am and why I make music. All I have belongs to him.”
