As the world continues to turn upside down I find myself clinging even tighter to Christ to maintain my bearings.
This week Dutch scientists claimed that the beta-blocker propranolol can "erase" unpleasant memories and published their results in Nature Neuroscience. Ironically these findings coincide with the series premiere of FOX’s intriguing new show Dollhouse which follows a young woman who has her personality wiped clean so she can be imprinted with any number of new personas and then is unknowingly whored out to fulfill the fantasies of customers.
As I think about where the world stands today, I’ll admit that I just want Jesus to return. Sin continues to takes its toll and I just want the King (not Elvis) to come back and make things right. I want justice but I’m admittedly fearful of God in his infinite holiness returning to earth and cleaning house. In the New Testament, Peter gives his prescription to living in light of what is to come:
“Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.” (2 Peter 3:11-13)
