There are a lot of things I’d rather do than work on a wedding guest list.
The wedding venue can only seat so many people and the reception price tag climbs quickly. As Allie and I sift through pages of names, we inevitably have to make several tough decisions about who to invite. I’d rather avoid offending people but I’m sure I’ll forget to invite an aunt or something.
The process has made me extra thankful for the invitation Jesus has extended to us all. And while choosing to avoid a lengthy discussion on the theology of pre-destination, I simply submit that God's invitation to an eternal relationship with himself is remarkable. Everyone is invited. The question is, have you RSVPd?
Matthew 7:7-8
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
John 3:16-18
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
Acts 17:26-27
From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
