I Timothy 4:7-10 (NASB)
But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. It is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance. For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.
When I read this verse, I could not take enough of it in. It was a reminder of what I am doing and why. God promises so much to us, and it is a privilege to be his child. God has called us to be godly; it is of worth now and in eternity. We strive to be holy and work with our hands for the kingdom of God because the only hope we have is in him. Nothing in this life can give us what we really need—except Jesus, who died for us on that rugged tree to save humanity.
Ephesians 3:17-19 (NASB)
So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breath and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
